The head of the Import and Domestic Trade Commission of the Kerman Chamber of Commerce has reported a significant increase in pistachio exports in the second half of the year. He stated: “According to estimates, around 115,000 tons of pistachios have been exported during this period, with a considerable portion of this success attributed to the thriving chocolate industry in Dubai.”
Growing Global Demand for Iranian Pistachios
Mozaffar Mohammadi explained: “Due to the use of Iranian pistachio butter in Dubai’s chocolate formulations, global demand for Iranian pistachios has increased, positively impacting export trends.”
Challenges in Iranian Pistachio Branding
He also highlighted obstacles in branding, saying: “One of our main challenges in establishing national brands is Iran’s non-membership in the World Trade Organization (WTO). As a result, other countries repackage Iranian pistachios and market them under their own brands, while Iran, due to international restrictions, remains deprived of such opportunities.”
The Role of Government in Brand Development
Speaking at the specialized workshop “Branding Strategies and the Secret to Dubai Chocolate’s Success in the Digital Era,” Mohammadi noted: “Government support plays a crucial role in the advancement of brands. A prime example is Dubai’s chocolate industry, which has secured a strong position in global markets thanks to substantial governmental backing.”
Strategies for Strengthening Iranian Brands
In conclusion, he emphasized: “Active participation in prestigious international events such as Gulfood Dubai, SIAL Paris, and Anuga Germany, analyzing successful global models, and leveraging social media effectively are all key factors in developing and strengthening Iranian brands in the global market.”
