Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, announced on Thursday the launch of an international emergency coalition to directly finance the Palestinian state. He stated that Saudi Arabia, together with key partners including Norway, will contribute $90 million to this initiative.
Prince Faisal reaffirmed that there can be no path toward normalizing relations with Israel without the establishment of a Palestinian state.
The announcement came during a press conference in New York, coinciding with a high-level ministerial meeting on advancing the two-state solution. Saudi Arabia chaired the meeting on behalf of the Arab-Islamic Committee on Gaza, in cooperation with the European Union and Norway.
The Saudi foreign minister also highlighted the growing international recognition of a Palestinian state, noting that 159 countries—an overwhelming majority of UN member states—have already recognized it. He said this reflects the strong will of the global community to achieve this goal.
