As New Year’s Eve 2026 approaches, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced full readiness to manage traffic flow and facilitate the movement of millions of residents and visitors. The authority urged the public to avoid using private vehicles and rely on public transport to help ease congestion across the city.
According to RTA, public transportation will be the fastest and most reliable way to reach major celebration areas such as Downtown Dubai and Dubai Marina. As part of the plan, Dubai Metro will operate continuously for 43 hours to prevent traffic congestion and ensure smooth mobility throughout the city.
Special Metro and Tram Operating Hours
The Red and Green Metro Lines will run continuously from 5:00 AM on Wednesday, December 31, until 11:59 PM on Thursday, January 1.
Dubai Tram services will also operate from 6:00 AM on December 31 until 1:00 AM on New Year’s Day.
Changes to Intercity Bus Services
Intercity Bus Route 100 (Dubai–Abu Dhabi) will be suspended from the afternoon of December 31 and will resume on January 4. The last departure will be at 12:00 PM from Abu Dhabi and 2:00 PM from Dubai.
Passengers traveling between Abu Dhabi and Dubai are advised to use Route E101 from Ibn Battuta Station. Additionally, Route E102 will remain operational from 2:00 PM on New Year’s Eve until the end of the day.
RTA emphasized that despite full operational readiness, early planning by residents and visitors is essential to minimizing congestion. Real-time updates on routes and schedules are available through the official RTA website and mobile application.
