Residents of the UAE planning to travel to France or Germany must now complete their Schengen visa application form online.
VFS Global, the official visa services provider, has announced that the Schengen visa form must be filled out digitally at the time of booking an appointment. This update aims to improve accuracy and streamline the visa process.
Previously, applicants had to download the form from the embassy website, fill it out manually, and bring it to their appointment. Now, the entire process is fully online and more efficient.
This change does not apply to UAE citizens, who can travel to the Schengen area without a visa. However, it is mandatory for UAE residents holding passports that require a visa — such as Iranians.
The update is part of a larger move toward digitalizing the Schengen visa process in the UAE. Applicants are encouraged to create an online account and complete all steps — from form submission to appointment booking — through the digital system.
Processing times may vary depending on demand and time of year, so it’s recommended to submit applications well in advance of your travel date. Appointments are allocated based on availability and submission time.
