Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, has announced that the GITEX Global exhibition and its affiliated event Expand North Star will relocate to Expo City Dubai starting in 2026.
The move aligns with the objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33) and aims to further strengthen Dubai’s position among the world’s top three urban economies.
Preparations for the transition will begin next year, with the first edition of GITEX at the new venue scheduled to take place from December 7 to 11, 2026. This relocation marks the beginning of a new chapter in the evolution of one of the world’s most influential technology events.
Sheikh Hamdan also directed the launch of the world’s first and largest “TechCation” experience, a pioneering concept that merges technology, lifestyle, and urban engagement — redefining how innovation integrates with everyday living.
The move follows 45 years of GITEX’s pivotal role in positioning Dubai and the UAE as global technology leaders. The 2026 edition is set to redefine the global technology event calendar, showcasing new dimensions of innovation, business transformation, and lifestyle experiences.
The TechCation concept — blending creativity, discovery, and destination appeal — will make its debut at the event, further reinforcing Dubai’s reputation as a global hub for innovation and tourism. This recognition aligns with Dubai’s #1 ranking on Tripadvisor’s Travellers’ Choice list of top global destinations.
Shifting the event to December represents a strategic change, placing GITEX at the heart of Dubai’s vibrant tourism season. The new timing offers international tech leaders, investors, and innovators an opportunity not only to attend the exhibition but also to immerse themselves in the city’s unique cultural and social calendar, enjoying an extended and more enriching stay in Dubai.
