To celebrate International Museum Day on May 18th this year, museums across the United Arab Emirates, including those in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah, will offer free entry to visitors.
In Dubai, visitors can explore the Expo 2020 Dubai Museum and the famous Garden in the Sky on May 17th and 18th for free. The museum will be open from 10 AM to 8 PM, and the garden from 2 PM to 10 PM.
In Abu Dhabi, art lovers can enjoy free entry to the Louvre Abu Dhabi on May 18th by simply presenting their Emirates ID at the ticket counter.
Additionally, some museums in the UAE are permanently free. In Dubai, the Jameel Arts Centre, Coffee Museum, and Dubai Police Museum offer free access with a permit obtained via the Dubai Police website or app.
The historic house of the Saudi poet Mubarak bin Hamad Al Aqili, near Deira Spice Souk, is another free and fascinating museum in Dubai, with architecture dating back to 1923.
In Abu Dhabi, visitors can also explore Al Saadiyat Tower, Bassam Freij Art Foundation, Abu Dhabi Heritage Village, and the Miraj Islamic Art Centre.
Sharjah’s Art Museum is one of the region’s most important cultural centers with free admission.
This initiative provides a wonderful opportunity for residents of Dubai and other emirates to deepen their knowledge of the local culture and heritage while celebrating International Museum Day.
