On Saturday, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, hosted Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, at Qasr Al Shati Palace. The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration in artificial intelligence and innovation.
Discussions highlighted advancing AI research and practical applications, building an integrated AI ecosystem, supporting the knowledge-based economy, and enhancing the UAE’s global position in this strategic field. Opportunities for cooperation and innovation between public and private sectors were also explored.
Sam Altman praised the UAE’s vision for artificial intelligence and its international partnerships. In recognition of his influential leadership in the field, Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence awarded him its first honorary doctorate in AI.
The meeting was also attended by His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, and His Highness Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and National Security Advisor.
