The UAE’s Ministry of Health and Prevention has officially introduced, for the first time, a needle-free nasal spray influenza vaccine across selected public and private healthcare centers. The new vaccine, produced using a weakened-virus technology, targets the same strains included in the annual injectable flu shot but works through a different mechanism by stimulating the mucosal immune system in the nose, offering enhanced protection.
The vaccine is approved for healthy individuals aged 2 to 49 and is considered an appealing option for children and those who are afraid of injections.
Authorities stated that all manufacturing, registration, and safety monitoring processes were completed under the UAE’s regulatory framework, and the product is also endorsed by international health bodies.
