In a bold strategic move to lead in the digital age, the United Arab Emirates has launched a comprehensive plan to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) across all levels of education — from kindergarten to doctoral programs.
Starting from the 2025–2026 academic year, AI will be introduced as an official subject in public schools across the country, from kindergarten through grade 12. The aim is to familiarize students with the fundamentals of AI from an early age and prepare them for a rapidly evolving technological world.
At the higher education level, the UAE has invested significantly in advanced AI education. Currently, more than 44 specialized university programs in AI are offered across various institutions. A key player in this transformation is the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI), established in 2019, which offers master’s and doctoral programs in areas such as machine learning, computer vision, natural language processing, and robotics.
This wide-scale educational initiative is part of the UAE’s National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence 2031, which aims to position the country as a global leader in AI by the year 2031.
