The 2025–2026 academic year in Dubai opened with a vibrant and high-profile initiative led by Dubai Police, aimed at ensuring student safety, managing traffic, and creating a memorable first day for families.
As part of the comprehensive “Back-to-School” plan, more than 750 officers were deployed across the city, with 250 traffic and security patrols stationed near schools. To strengthen monitoring, nine drones were used to oversee traffic flow and school zones. In addition, the force showcased its diverse fleet, including luxury patrol cars, mounted horse units, K9 teams, and bicycle patrols, turning routine school commutes into an engaging and reassuring experience.
Beyond security, Dubai Police emphasized community outreach and education. Over 28 awareness programmes were rolled out in partnership with 15 local organizations, while the “Safety Ambassadors” initiative engaged 300 children in learning about road safety and responsible commuting. Officers also visited 71 schools to interact directly with students and parents, underlining the importance of safety both inside and outside the classroom.
The first day carried a festive atmosphere. At Al Ittihad Private School in Al Mamzar, students were greeted by mounted patrols, luxury vehicles, police motorcycles, and K9 units. Police distributed school supplies and memorabilia bearing the official insignia, adding excitement to the back-to-school welcome.
Some officers even stepped into classrooms as guest teachers, holding discussions with students about the role of discipline and traffic awareness. These interactions helped build trust and highlighted the broader role of police in supporting education and community life.
In parallel, Dubai also launched the nationwide “Accident-Free Day” campaign, encouraging motorists to pledge safe driving on the busy first day of school. Those who complied could benefit from the removal of penalty points from their driving licences, aligning traffic safety with positive reinforcement.
