To strengthen relations between Abu Dhabi and Damascus, the UAE Head of State today welcomed the Syrian President on a working visit at Al Shati Palace.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to expand development and economic cooperation, support the reconstruction process in Syria, and joint cooperation to establish security and stability in the region.
Stressing the brotherly ties, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed announced the UAE’s readiness to cooperate in Syrian infrastructure projects and supported the efforts of the Damascus government for stability.
Ahmed Al Sharia also appreciated Abu Dhabi’s humanitarian role in providing relief and facilitating investment, and stressed the need for continued cooperation.
The two sides also stressed the need for continued coordination in countering extremism and developing bilateral trade.
This is Ahmed Al Sharia’s second visit to the UAE since assuming the presidency on January 29, 2025.
He had previously met with Sheikh Mohamed in Abu Dhabi on April 13.
Today’s meeting comes amid reports of the UAE’s diplomatic role in facilitating indirect talks between Damascus and Tel Aviv.
An issue that could be seen as an important step towards Syria’s full return to the Arab and international environment.
