Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has announced the establishment of a charitable fund with a budget of AED 1 billion to provide healthcare services for the poor and needy.
According to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), this initiative is part of the “Fathers’ Endowment” campaign, launched to honor fathers in the UAE. It continues Sheikh Mohammed’s tradition of launching charitable projects during the holy month of Ramadan.
Sheikh Mohammed stated:
“Dear brothers and sisters, as Ramadan approaches, we continue our humanitarian campaigns by launching the Fathers’ Endowment – a sustainable charitable institution established in honor of all fathers in the UAE. Fathers are our first role models, supporters, and teachers who guide us with strength and wisdom. This endowment, inspired by the spirit of the holy month of Ramadan and the Year of Community, will provide financial aid for healthcare services for those in need. We invite everyone to contribute and strengthen family bonds.”
Contributions and Fund Allocation
As reported by WAM, donations can be made in the name of fathers, and the funds will be used to develop hospitals, provide medicine, and support medical treatments for the underprivileged.
UAE’s History of Charitable Campaigns
Last year, the “Mothers’ Endowment” campaign was launched during Ramadan, aiming to raise at least AED 1 billion to support the education of millions worldwide. The campaign exceeded its goal, securing even greater contributions.
Over the years, the UAE has introduced several large-scale Ramadan charity initiatives:
2020: “10 Million Meals” campaign, which ultimately provided 15.3 million meals.
2021: “100 Million Meals” campaign, collecting donations for 220 million meals.
2022: “1 Billion Meals” campaign, which reached its goal in less than a month.
2023: “1 Billion Meals” campaign, which successfully raised AED 1.075 billion.
With the launch of the new AED 1 billion healthcare fund, the UAE continues to reinforce its commitment to humanitarian values and supporting those in need.
