The architectural rivalry between Jeddah and Dubai has entered a new phase. Jeddah Tower, currently the tallest skyscraper under construction in the world, has reached its 81st floor after construction officially resumed in January 2025 following several years of توقف.
According to recent reports and images released by mid-December 2025, construction is progressing at a rapid pace, with a new floor being added approximately every 3 to 4 days. This accelerated progress is part of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 goals, aimed at showcasing the country’s ambition in modern architecture and urban development.
Jeddah Tower is planned to exceed 1,008 meters in height, which would place it well above Dubai’s Burj Khalifa at 828 meters, allowing it to claim the title of the world’s tallest building. The project will include luxury hotels, residential apartments, office spaces, and the highest observation deck ever built. The tower is expected to be completed by 2028.
Saudi Arabia is not stopping with Jeddah Tower alone. Another mega-project, known as the Rise Tower in Riyadh, is currently in the design and tender phase, with the ambitious goal of becoming the world’s first 2,000-meter-tall skyscraper.
With these developments, Jeddah Tower is set to surpass Burj Khalifa’s long-held record and emerge as a new global symbol of Saudi Arabia’s architectural ambition and futuristic vision.
