His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defense, met with FIFA President Gianni Infantino on Monday. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the World Sports Summit in Dubai, with discussions focusing on the importance of international cooperation to leverage the positive impact of sports, particularly football.
During the meeting, Sheikh Hamdan emphasized that Dubai’s hosting of the summit reflects the UAE’s commitment to shaping the future of global sports. He stated, “Bringing together ideas and expertise from around the world opens new opportunities to support talent, encourage creativity, and attract investment in technology and knowledge.”
The main goal of the event is to create a lasting positive impact that enhances the growth and development of sports across countries and regions. Through hosting such summits, Dubai aims to strengthen its position as a global sports hub and attract international investment in the sports sector.
Gianni Infantino also praised the UAE’s role in promoting sports and described hosting the summit as a reflection of Dubai’s forward-looking vision. The FIFA President additionally defended the ticket pricing structure for the 2026 World Cup, which had previously faced criticism.
