The traditional “Haq Al Laila” celebration, also known by other names such as “Gargian,” will be held for the first time at Global Village Dubai. This celebration, taking place on the 15th of Sha’ban, will fall on Thursday, February 13th this year, and will run until February 16th.
Haq Al Laila is an opportunity to promote values of generosity and social solidarity among both younger and older generations, and also serves as a prelude to the start of the holy month of Ramadan. From February 13th to 16th, visitors can enjoy a variety of cultural and family-oriented programs between the Main Stage and Dragon Lake.
Among the activities planned for this occasion are the distribution of traditional sweets, interactive workshops, folk performances, and meetings with “The Nomads” characters. The Global Village area has also been decorated with inspiration from the Emirati heritage, with elements like palm leaves, lanterns, and traditional seating scattered throughout. The aim of these decorations is to create an authentic and memorable atmosphere, allowing visitors to connect more deeply with local culture.
According to Global Village officials, the event is a response to the need to preserve and pass on the values and traditions of the UAE’s heritage, in line with the UAE President’s designation of 2025 as the Year of Community. Introducing children and teenagers to traditional culture and customs helps strengthen national identity and solidify family and social bonds.
Every year, Global Village Dubai hosts a variety of cultural and recreational events, striving to be more than just a simple tourist destination. With the celebration of Haq Al Laila this year, it aims to offer both local and international visitors a fresh and unique experience in interacting with Emirati culture.
