The UAE Ministry of Education has announced a major update to the unified academic calendar. For the first time, schools across the country — both public and private — will follow a four-week winter break in the current academic year.
The winter holidays will run from December 8, 2025, to January 4, 2026, giving students and their families a unique opportunity to enjoy extended rest, family travels, and cultural or educational activities outside the classroom.
According to the Ministry, this decision was made to ensure better alignment of school calendars nationwide, allowing all families to benefit from the same holiday schedule and plan their vacations more effectively.
Education experts also believe that the extended winter break will positively impact students’ mental well-being and academic performance, as the long mid-year pause helps them return to classes with a refreshed mindset and stronger motivation.
