Leaders of the United Arab Emirates have extended their condolences following the passing of Pope Francis, honoring his legacy of peace, coexistence, and interfaith dialogue.
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, said in a statement: “I offer my sincere condolences to Catholics around the world on the passing of Pope Francis. He dedicated his life to promoting peaceful coexistence and mutual understanding among nations, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and unity.”
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, also expressed his sorrow, describing Pope Francis as “a great leader” who touched the lives of millions with his humility, compassion, and commitment to peace. He praised the Pope’s efforts to strengthen unity among religions.
Pope Francis, the first Latin American leader of the Catholic Church, passed away at the age of 88. He served as Pope for 12 years after his election in 2013, and was widely respected for his humanitarian vision and his focus on helping the poor and marginalized.
