Twelve years after its initial unveiling, Dutch company PAL-V has finally received final approval to produce the world’s first commercial flying car, the PAL-V Liberty. This two-seater vehicle can operate both on the road and in the air as a gyroplane.
Production will begin next year in the Netherlands, and the vehicle will enter the UAE market by early 2027, starting at a price of $799,000.
Designed to reduce urban traffic, the PAL-V Liberty will first launch in Europe and later be introduced in the UAE in partnership with Jetex. It is engineered for desert conditions and only requires a short airstrip for takeoff and landing.
Before its official release, PAL-V will complete 100 hours of certification flights in early 2026 and will establish flight training centers in the Netherlands, Italy, and the UAE. To operate the vehicle, users will need both a driving license and a private pilot license. Intensive training programs are being developed, especially for entrepreneurs.
According to the company, the PAL-V Liberty is far more cost-effective than a helicopter and can perform up to 90% of its functions. The vehicle will be showcased at upcoming events in the UAE and is expected to play a key role in shaping the future of urban transportation—particularly in high-traffic areas like Dubai.
