Sheikh Hamdan has invited all residents of Dubai to contribute to documenting the city’s history. The “Erth Dubai” initiative, launched on Sunday, February 2, aims to collect and preserve the memories and life experiences of Dubai’s community, reflecting the city’s growth and development over the years.
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defense of the UAE, stated at the launch event:
“We invite everyone to take part in this initiative. Together, we will write Dubai’s history in the voices of its people, guiding its past towards the future.”
A Community-Wide Participation
“Erth Dubai” is an interactive platform that encourages people of all generations to share their personal stories. The initiative aims to document and preserve Dubai’s rich heritage, ensuring that it remains an inspiration for future generations.
This initiative will be implemented in multiple phases throughout 2025:
1. Collecting memories and historical records from community members.
2. Evaluating these narratives by a panel of experts in history, social studies, and culture to ensure their authenticity and accurate representation.
An Inclusive Call to Action
All Dubai residents, including students from public and private schools, as well as government employees, are encouraged to participate in this historic documentation. As part of this effort, the “School Campaign” will be launched in collaboration with the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) to inspire students to record the stories of their parents and grandparents. This initiative will help the younger generation connect with their roots and appreciate the experiences and events that have shaped Dubai’s journey.
