The China visa application process for UAE residents has become digital and simpler since June 30 with the launch of a new online system by the Chinese Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Chinese Consulate in Dubai.
According to an announcement by the China Visa Application Service Center (CVASC) in Dubai, the digital transformation allows applicants to complete basic steps such as filling out forms and submitting documents online, freeing them from the complexities of the previous system.
The previous online application system has been discontinued since June 30. Applicants who used the previous system will only have until July 10 to submit their documents in person at the Dubai center. From July 11, only passport collection services will be provided and no new visa applications will be accepted except through the new system.
Steps to Apply for a Chinese Visa from Dubai (New System)
Step 1: Register and Submit Documents Online
Go to www.consular.mfa.gov.cn/VISA, create an account or log in. Select “Dubai” as the location. Fill out your visa application online and upload the following documents:
Passport main page (clear scan)
A recent passport-sized photo
Supporting documents depending on the type of visa (invitation letter, round-trip ticket, hotel reservation, etc.)
Finally, click the Submit button. After the initial review, you will be notified of one of the following statuses:
Approved: Approved; you will receive an email with a confirmation of your visa application
Rejected: Rejected; You will receive an email to correct or submit additional documents
Step 2: Visit the Visa Application Center in Dubai
If approved, bring the following documents with you to the visa application center in person:
Printed visa application receipt
Signed online form
Original passport and previous passports (if applicable)
Two recent passport photos (if replacement is required)
Printed copies of uploaded supporting documents
Payment of fees is made in cash or by bank card. Applicants will also be fingerprinted, except for:
Children under 14
Persons over 70
Applicants for single or double entry visas with a duration of less than 180 days (until December 31, 2025)
Step 3: Receive passport and visa
The visa issuance period is 4 working days after the in-person visit. To receive your passport, bring the received delivery form.
Important Tips
Apply for a visa at least one month before travel
Do not buy a ticket before receiving your visa; in case of rejection or delay, the applicant is responsible for the loss
