Kuwait has launched a new and improved online visa platform at kuwaitvisa.moi.gov.kw, making it easier for foreign nationals residing in the UAE and other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries to apply for an electronic visa.
Upgrade of Kuwait’s Electronic Visa System
In December 2024, Kuwait temporarily suspended its electronic visa system for upgrades. The new platform is now active, offering faster processing times and more efficient visa application submissions.
Eligibility for Electronic Visa
Foreign nationals residing in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, and Bahrain with specific job titles can apply for an electronic visa or a visa on arrival.
Eligible Job Titles
According to Kuwait’s electronic visa portal, the following job titles are eligible:
Doctor
Lawyer
Engineer
Teacher
Judge or Prosecutor
Consultant
University Professor
Journalist and media-related professions
Pilot
System Analyst or Computer Programmer
Pharmacist
Manager
Businessperson
Shareholder, Director, or Officer
Diplomatic Staff
Note: For UAE residents, eligibility is determined based on the job title registered in their Emirates ID.
Required Documents for Kuwait Electronic Visa
Documents may vary depending on the applicant’s nationality. Generally, applicants will need:
Passport with at least 6 months of validity
A recent passport-sized photo
Confirmed round-trip ticket
Proof of residence in Kuwait
Valid Emirates ID with at least 6 months of validity (for UAE residents)
How to Apply
1. Visit the official website kuwaitvisa.moi.gov.kw.
2. Select “tourist” as your visa type.
3. Specify your nationality and residency in a GCC country.
4. Click “Apply Now” and create an account.
5. Enter your residency details and upload the required documents.
6. Review and confirm your application, and pay the visa fee online.
7. Submit your application and track its status through your account.
Visa Validity and Fees
Validity: The tourist visa is valid for 30 days from the date of issue, allowing a stay of up to 90 days from the date of arrival.
Fees: Visa fees vary depending on the applicant’s nationality and visa type, with an approximate fee of 3 Kuwaiti Dinars (about 35.74 AED).
For Applicants Not Eligible for the Electronic Visa or Visa on Arrival
If your nationality or job title does not meet the eligibility criteria, you can apply for other types of visas through Kuwait’s embassy or consulate, including:
Visit Visa: Requires sponsorship from a Kuwaiti resident or entity.
Business Visa: Requires supporting documents such as an invitation letter and business-related documents.
