Sharjah Municipality has uncovered an illegal water packaging facility operating out of a residential home, where regular tanker water was being falsely labeled and sold as “Zamzam water” at high prices through social media.
The fraudulent operation was discovered during routine inspections by the municipality’s health and safety teams. Authorities launched an immediate investigation after observing large quantities of bottled water being loaded from the property. The individual involved was arrested on-site.
Inside the residence, inspectors found numerous bottles and cartons falsely labeled “Zamzam Water,” which were being filled in unhygienic conditions. The municipality promptly took legal and administrative action.
Obaid Al Tunaiji, Director General of Sharjah Municipality, emphasized that the municipality continuously monitors activities that pose risks to public health and will take strict legal measures against any fraudulent practices.
Further investigation revealed that the suspect owned a licensed company named “RT Trading” and was using the company’s name to issue fake official invoices. The Sharjah Economic Development Department has since shut down the company and referred the suspect to the police.
Sharjah Municipality urged the public to avoid purchasing drinking water or food products from unverified sources, particularly those advertised through social media. Suspicious cases can be reported by calling
