Dubai Police and Emergency Teams Work Overnight to Manage Heavy Rainfall Crisis

Following heavy rainfall that affected parts of Dubai, police and emergency teams remained on the streets throughout the night to reopen major roads, manage traffic, and ensure the safety of residential areas.
According to Major General Turki Abdulrahman bin Faris, Director of the General Department of Operations at Dubai Police, early monitoring of weather conditions in neighboring countries enabled full preparedness before the rainfall intensified. As conditions worsened, work shifts were extended, and nearly 70 percent of patrol units and rescue teams were deployed across Dubai, including the mountainous Hatta region.
The primary focus of the overnight operations was protecting lives, restoring traffic flow on key routes, securing neighborhoods, clearing high-risk areas, and restricting access to beaches and dangerous locations. Police units assisted vehicles trapped in floodwaters, managed minor traffic accidents, and limited access to high-risk areas such as valleys and elevated terrain.
Operations were centrally coordinated in cooperation with entities including the Roads and Transport Authority, Dubai Municipality, Civil Defense, Ambulance Services, DEWA, and the Dubai Government Media Office. This coordination ensured timely public communication and enabled the city to gradually return to normal conditions by morning.
A total of 22 specialized land and marine rescue teams were deployed at critical locations, with operational decisions continuously updated based on real-time field reports and meteorological data. Dubai Police emphasized that strong coordination between operational forces, municipal entities, and communication teams played a vital role in managing the situation and maintaining safety across all areas of Dubai, from the city center to Hatta.
