In 2016, Dubai-based company Z Tyre by Tre etched its name into the Guinness World Records by unveiling the world’s most expensive tires.
These extraordinary tires, model Z1, were crafted using 24-karat gold and rare diamonds. The initial design was developed in Dubai, while the goldwork and gemstone inlay were executed by skilled Italian jewelers—the same artisans responsible for gilding Abu Dhabi’s new presidential palace.
The set included four tires, which debuted at the Reifen Essen show in Germany and sold for a jaw-dropping $600,000. This unprecedented price not only brought global recognition to Tre but also set a new standard for luxury in the automotive industry.
Other Expensive Tires Around the World
While Tre’s diamond-studded creations hold the record for the most expensive tires ever made, several other high-end models also command hefty price tags:
Firestone 70/70-57 Super Rock Grip, used on giant loaders in mining operations, costs around $120,000 per tire. Each loader requires four of these.
The ultra-luxury Bugatti Veyron is equipped with Michelin Pilot Sport Pax tires, which cost $42,000 for a complete set.
In Formula 1 racing, tire costs are steep as well. A single set of F1 tires runs about $2,700, and teams spend around $35,000 per car for one race weekend. For two cars, the figure doubles to $70,000. With 20 cars on the starting grid, total tire expenses for a single race can reach $1.4 million.
Still, none of these come close to the record-breaking price tag of the gold and diamond-encrusted tires from Dubai—a true masterpiece that blurs the line between engineering, luxury, and art.
