Abu Dhabi is positioning itself as one of the major filmmaking hubs in the region and the world with the introduction of an exciting new initiative. Starting January 2025, international, regional, and local filmmakers will be able to benefit from cash rebates of up to 50% on production and post-production costs. This initiative, launched by the Creative Media Organization and the Abu Dhabi Film Commission, is designed to attract film and television productions and strengthen the emirate’s creative economy.
Key features of the initiative include:
– Extensive financial support: The cash rebate covers production and post-production costs.
– Scoring system: Projects that utilize Emirati talent or showcase the heritage and culture of the UAE will earn more points and receive higher rebates.
– Special incentives: International productions can benefit from rebates of up to $10 million.
The program also streamlines the rebate process, reducing the final payment time to 30 business days. With major productions like Dune, Mission: Impossible, and Star Wars having been filmed in Abu Dhabi, the emirate is quickly becoming a prominent destination for filmmaking.
